Samantha Malm, M.D. was one of three East Bay Region physicians recently honored with a Sutter Medical Network (SMN) Quality Care Award. Dr. Malm received the honor for having the highest overall Quality Pay for Performance mean score compared to all other eligible family medicine clinicians in the Sutter East Bay Region.

“Samantha Malm is dedicated to her patients and goes out of her way to make sure that patients’ care needs are met, often at the expense of her own personal time,” said Dr. Louis Wu, medical director and CMO of the East Bay Physicians Medical Group, associated with Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation. “She has a strong interest in caring for pediatric patients while also managing families with members at all ages of the spectrum.”

Dr. Malm and her staff were recognized for working diligently to ensure their patients receive the preventive care and screenings that they need — an important factor for health care consumers choosing where they seek care.

The SMN Quality Care Award is presented to three primary care physicians in each region – one family medicine physician, one internal medicine physician, and one pediatrician – with the highest overall Quality Pay for Performance (P4P) mean scores compared to all other eligible clinicians in his or her region. Other East Bay Region award recipients are internal medicine physician Jeffrey H. Burack, M.D. and pediatrician Olivia Lang, M.D.

All SMN affiliated medical foundations and IPAs that reported quality data to Sutter Health in 2012 were eligible to participate. As the SMN expands its measurement set in 2014 to non-primary care areas, sub-specialists will also be eligible for the award.
